For authors

Submission of an article is deemed to be the Author’s declaration that the work is original and has not been previously published in any form. Authors are also requested to provide complete source materials (texts, illustrations, charts) to enable their processing in accordance with the journal’s requirements.

Every submitted article is checked for consistency with the journal’s profile and technical accuracy. If any technical shortcomings are detected, the editorial team will return the article for revision. Texts undergo a preliminary assessment by language editors. If an article requires language corrections, the Author will receive detailed guidelines and an invitation to submit a revised version.

Novensia employs a double-blind peer review procedure, under which each article is evaluated by two independent reviewers. Reviewers are selected from external institutions and the extended editorial board of Novensia (in the case of editorial board members, only one reviewer may be from that group). Reviewers are chosen on the basis of their academic specialisation, ensuring a high standard of evaluation.

Reviewers assess the manuscript against several key criteria:

  1. Relevance of the topic – How significant is the issue under discussion in the context of the current state of knowledge?
  2. Originality of the research – How innovative and unique are the results presented in the manuscript?
  3. Methodology – How appropriate and robust is the chosen research method?
  4. Quality and clarity of presentation – How clearly are the research findings and conclusions presented?

Essential qualities expected of Novensia’s reviewers include:

  1. Reliability – Reviewers should assess articles objectively, on the basis of substantive analysis.
  2. Objectivity – It is important to avoid personal judgements about authors and to focus on the text’s scholarly merit.
  3. Academic integrity – Reviewers should detect any breaches of ethical principles and act in accordance with academic standards.

Reviewers have 21 days to prepare their review, which should be submitted to the journal’s editorial email address. In the event of difficulties in meeting this deadline, reviewers are asked to inform the Novensia secretariat without delay.

Based on the reviews, the editorial team decides whether to accept the article in its current form, accept it with revisions, request a rewrite and another review, or reject the text. If there is a discrepancy between the reviewers’ opinions, a third reviewer may be invited.

Reviewers are obliged to maintain full confidentiality and follow the principles related to conflicts of interest. If any issues arise in this regard, reviewers should immediately notify the Editor-in-Chief. It is essential that reviewers evaluate the article impartially and are alert to potential ethical infringements. Reviewers should also avoid personal attacks on the authors and focus on providing constructive criticism.

Members of the editorial board and advisory committee, who are experts in their respective fields, may be appointed as reviewers for particular articles. In such instances, the second reviewer must be from an external institution. These members are required to adhere to the same standards as external reviewers.

Accepted articles undergo editorial and language revisions, adapting the text to international academic standards. The revised version of the article is sent to the Author for approval. Changes introduced are agreed upon in two editorial rounds. Once the final version of the text is approved, the Author is obliged to sign a licence agreement, which must be returned to the editorial office. Without this agreement, the text cannot be published.

Author’s statement

Following the review and proofreading stage, the article is prepared for publication. Once the editorial process is complete, the Author receives the initial proof versions. Revisions at this stage should be limited to typographical and factual errors. The deadline for returning corrections is 14 days. If the Author identifies a need for further amendments, the text will be sent again. Proof corrections at this point should concern only key errors.

Once the editorial stage is finalised, the article will be published. Publications are made available free of charge online on the journal’s website and in academic repositories. Authors receive a PDF of their article and are encouraged to share it for scholarly purposes, either as the PDF file itself or as a link to the journal’s website.

Authors are kindly requested to prepare their texts carefully in line with the above guidelines, which will speed up the publication process and help maintain the high quality of the journal.
